St Joseph’s Therapy Dog Program

Dogs are known to be excellent companions that provide unconditional love and support. By bringing them into schools through programs like our Therapy Dog program, children can experience increased levels of comfort while interacting with their peers. The presence of these furry friends encourages teamwork among classmates as well as promotes empathy towards others who may need extra help or attention.

Meet Narla – Our School Therapy Dog 🐾

We are proud to introduce Narla, our much-loved therapy dog who is part of our Wellbeing Team and Therapy Dog Program. Narla plays an important role in supporting the wellbeing of our whole school community.

Having Narla at school helps to:

  • Support Students – Narla encourages kindness, empathy, and teamwork. She helps students feel calm, included, and motivated to learn.
  • Boost Attendance & Engagement – Many children, parents and staff look forward to seeing Narla each day, which helps reduce anxiety and makes school a more positive place to be.
  • Strengthen Staff Wellbeing – Narla also supports our teachers and staff, providing stress relief and building stronger connections within our school community.

Through the Therapy Dogs Program, Narla helps our students develop important life skills such as leadership, communication, collaboration, and empathy – all while bringing joy and comfort to everyone she meets.

Narla isn’t just a therapy dog – she’s a much-loved member of our school family.
