At St Joseph’s, we don’t just use technology; we use it to change the world! Our students are encouraged to be users, designers, and producers, learning how to solve real-world problems through creative thinking and digital tools.
Our Technology Curriculum
Our program is built on two key pillars that prepare students for the future:
Design and Technologies
Using the Inquiry Process, students investigate everyday problems and build solutions. From using LEGO and construction kits to creating with natural and recycled materials, students bring their inventions to life and learn that great ideas can be built from anything!
Digital Technologies
Students dive deep into the world of data and information systems. They develop the technical skills needed to create digital solutions, while also building the social skills required to navigate the online world with kindness and confidence.
Little Scientists, Big Ideas
We are proud to host and participate in “Little Scientists, Big Ideas,” an exciting yearly STEM competition. We invite students from across the Mornington Peninsula to join us in designing innovative solutions to both local and global issues. Whether it’s protecting our local coastline or solving a worldwide challenge, our students use their STEM skills to make a real difference.
Staying Safe Online: Our eSmart Commitment
St Joseph’s is a proud Accredited eSmart School. Developed by the Alannah & Madeline Foundation and RMIT University, the eSmart framework ensures that being smart, safe, and responsible online is a way of life at our school.
What this means for our students:
-
Responsibility: Learning to be positive “digital citizens.”
-
Savvy Skills: Being equipped to embrace the best of the web while avoiding the pitfalls.
-
Cultural Norms: Cyber safety is woven into every lesson, ensuring our teachers, students, and parents are all working together to keep our community safe.
